Grain Nutriplan

“Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.”
- Hippocrates

Cancer patients undergo drastic changes to their sense of taste during chemotherapy, with taste sensory alterations (TSA’s) making a majority of foods unpalatable to them. This adds a burden to an already stressful process.

We can't cure cancer (yet), but we can help patients forget they're in treatment during mealtimes.

Grain Nutriplan utilizes the most important taste receptor of the human body; the brain. Through specific ingredients, specialized preparation methods, and the utilization of the other senses, we were able to create meals that cancer patients found appetizing, while still delivering the nutrition they need to fight cancer.

How Do They Start?

Activation

A series of “taste enhancers” will be made available to the general public. When applied, the enhancers amplify the flavor profiles of food to an extreme end (bitter, sweet, sour etc.).
This simulates the effect that Taste Sensory Alterations (TSA) can have on cancer patients. Enhancers will be used for demonstrations (road-shows, tasting events etc.) to help the public better understand TSA and how disheartening they can be for cancer patients undergoing treatment.

The Summit for Real Change

Grain will send out food trucks to select locations in the city (shopping malls, the Central Business District, and university campuses) with significant foot traffic, offering Nutriplan meals for the public to taste test.

Grain Food Truck

Grain will set up stalls at kopitiams (local coffeeshops) within food courts at hospitals throughout Singapore, starting with the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), to sell Nutriplan meals to the public at discounted prices.
