Common Ground
Unifying Americans using Facebook bring them to the polls
92 million Americans didn't vote in the 2016 elections. How can we get these uninterested Americans to vote in the 2020 elections?
Introduce disinterested voters to ineligible voters and have them agree upon a candidate to vote for.
Common Ground is a partnership between Facebook and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) that was created with the objective of getting more Americans to exercise their right to vote.
With Common Ground, eligible (but disinterested) voters are paired with ineligible (but interested) voters on Facebook, where they can discuss their political views and work together on finding a candidate that they can use their vote for. The program prevents an otherwise unused vote from going to waste by inspiring individuals who don't initially intend to exercise their enfranchisement.
